The ethics behind de-extinction are polar. Some may say that you are playing God by bringing back extinct animals to our planet Earth. On the other hand, other people may say that bring back extinct animals could be a benefit to our knowledge and understanding of the previous lifeforms that existed on Earth. There are some dangers by bringing back these animals of course, such as an organism completely dominating an ecosystem if brought back. Ethically it is arguable on which side you stand on. Personally I would love to see some extinct animals from the previous developing periods of Earth, but that is just me. It all just depends where you stand ethically.
The ethics of bringing back to life an animal that has gone extinct are serious. I personally believe that things should be left as they are. I believe that if God wanted to have these animals still alive on the Earth, he would have kept them around. There are many questions left unanswered about the Earth's past, that de-extermination would help resolve. There are also some very exciting parts of de-extinction. For example, the "wonder factor" is immense. The idea of reviving animals we have never seen and do not know a whole lot about keeps our imaginations running wild. By bringing back animals that went extinct many years ago, we can better understand the terrain and lifestyle of that time because the animals will act the same as when they went extinct, because traits are culturally learned. A revived species could also be bad news because they can carry a deadly disease. The animals may not even be able to live and carry on in the current environment.
I think using DNA to bring back extinct plants and animals would be amazing! De-extinction would help scientists learn all kinds of new things they did not know about the extinct animals. I believe it would benefit us and our curiosity about previous life forms would be answered and we would no longer have to wonder.
Resurrecting extinct animals has many pros and cons. Some people believe that bringing them back is like playing the role of God. It could also drastically effect ecosystems. I believe that bringing the animals back would be very interesting. You could further knowledge relating to past species. I would love to see the animals that use to walk the Earth. It would also answer many unanswered questions.
I do not think that scientists should bring extinct animals back to life. They are probably extinct for a reason. I agree with Jacob Sherkow from the Stanford Center for Law and the Biosciences when he said, "If we bring the passenger pigeon back, there's no reason to believe it will act the same way as it did in 1850." Just because you clone something that looks like an exact copy of the animal itself does not mean that it will act the same. Bringing these animals back into existence could also pose environmental threats. They could be carriers for diseases that we know nothing about.
I dont think scientist should bring back extinct animals because i believe if they were meant to be here then they would have never went extinct in the first place. Extint organisms have a lot of value and rareness that no one should ever see agian in this world. I dont believe that the knowledge needs to be known because it could do more danger than good. They could end up bringing disaster instead of being good for our unanswered questions. The past should always stay in the past!
I don't think it would be a good idea to bring back these extinct animals because they are gone for a reason. I believe that bringing back these animals would cause a lot of issues within nature and the organism itself. If we brought organisms back, they may bring harmful threats to the environment and to other organisms. And how do we know that the organism won't just become extinct again? If that happens we would waste money on the process and it would be a waste of time.
Scientists predict that they will be able to bring back some extinct species, in the next fifteen years. In doing so, this raises ethical issues amongst us all on how to treat the research subjects, and if this should be allowed. While bringing back extinct animals would be beneficial to the science community, it is not ethical. These animals are extinct because they weren't fit to survive, and we are here to study their extinctions and life spans on earth. It is like playing God, and science and religion do not mix. The possibility of these science-made animals having diseases, is a risk to the human race, and other populations of organisms. We should not risk extinction of the current life forms on earth, for the 'wonder' factor of the science community.
In my opinion, scientists should leave extinct animals just that: extinct. I believe everything happens for a reason. Well, dinosaurs are extinct for a reason. They don't need to be back, roaming the earth with little humans that could die. That WILL die. There are plenty of different ethical issues that this raises into question. Plying "God" is completely unethical, in many more ways than one.
I think that using DNA to bring back extinct animals is a horrible idea! The world has been evolutionarily changed many times, and it can only maintain the life it supports. To bring those animals back to life would take space and resources that we should be preserving! They could be hazardous to society, just like in Jurassic Park! These animals were extinct for a reason and the shouldn't be brought back and I different time period
While it is very exciting to think we could see creatures from the past the reality is that it would be highly unethical for us to test these animals and research them. There would be more questions reguarding how the creatures would function in a normal ecosystem. Would they cause other species to go extinct because of their presence? Would they have problems adjusting to a new environment? There isn't a vast wilderness like there once was for them to thrive on. There are also ethical issues because these scientist would be "playing God" by recreating these "ancient" creatures. Would the once extinct animals be able to reproduce and live happy lives?
In my opinion, they shouldn't bring extinct animals and plants back. There is a reason they are extinct. The idea of using DNA is very neat, but what would we do if all the sudden dinosaurs were just walking around everywhere. I don't think bringing them back would be safe. We have building and houses now. Imagine trying to remain a normal life with extinct, dangerous animals everywhere.
